Parents are often very nervous about having “the talk,” and many of us can’t remember ever having the talk with our own parents, or what we learned from experience was very different from the information we were given. We want to help you with these conversations, and we encourage you to talk about sex early and often—as a series of ongoing chats that provide age-appropriate information based on your child’s maturity level. It’s really never too early to talk about sex, and as your child gets older you’ll want to cover information about consent, safe sex, abstinence, condoms, birth control, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
